AUMC sponsors three children from Costa Rica through World Vision. You can support this mission by bringing an offering to the altar during the service. You can also drop some change in the large jug of coins on the missions table. The money collected is used for missions.
Each Wednesday night at supper we raffle off items and the money received goes into the missions fund.

The Shepherd's Table The Shepherd's Table, a food ministry for the needy in Abbeville has been operating weekly since April of this year. The distribution center is the Abbeville Community Center each Thursday evening from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Over 100 meals are prepared, served and delivered each week at no cost to the individuals receiving the meals. Many are elderly and shut-in. Many are struggling families; others are single mothers with children.
Abbeville UMC's 2nd Time Around Thrift Store
 Jennifer Wills & Ingrid Dow
Having been purchased by our Board of Trustees September 20, 1988, the old Newman/Gregory store fronting on Kirkland Street is used as our church store, the "Second Time Around Thrift Store". People all over the community donate items to the store. The task of sorting, displaying and selling the huge assortment of donated clothes, books, furniture and bric-a-brac falls to Ingrid Dow. As part of the store's mission, Ingrid opens the store and donates generously to anyone who needs clothing, as was the case after the tornado and as often happens when the Department of Human Resources needs help clothing children in the foster care program. A couple of times a year, at the change of seasons, the store will open an extra Saturday and everything on that day is free. Ocassionally, there are bag sales, where everything you can stuff in a grocery size bag is 50 cents. We feel this is a good outreach to the community. On the days when the store is about to open there is almost always a line waiting to get in.
With assistance of circle members, the store is opened the second Saturday of every month from 8:00 am until 11:30 am; the money is used to support the various programs of the United Methodist Women.
